New and Updated WillPowerWeb documents for Remote Signing
Since the release of the Remote Signing Portal, we’ve been hard at work adding and updating documents in WillPowerWeb.
We’ve released: Video Conference Consent and Video Conference Checklist documents for all users to use (when remote witnessing).
Please do not undertake a video conference witnessing of a Will if your jurisdiction has not authorized such an exception to conventional formalities of execution.
Saskatchewan
For all of our Saskatchewan lawyers we’ve added the following forms to WillPowerWeb:
Video Conference Checklist - SK (this is specific to the requirements of remote signing Wills, set out in the Practice Directive from the Law Society of Saskatchewan (April 16)).
Form PD3 - Declaration of Lawyer Remote Witnessing
Form 16-19A - Affidavit of Execution of Will
The forms are available with or without the wording required for remote witnessing.
Ontario
All of our lawyers in Ontario, we’ve updated the following documents to reflect the use of audio visual communication technology when remote signing and to reference Ontario Regulation 164/20:
Power of Attorney for Property
Power of Attorney for Personal Care
Also, because the Law Society of Ontario has different requirements from Saskatchewan, the Video Conference Checklist - ON has been made available.
