Please note: LDD is working on a version of our Remote Signing Portal for Saskatchewan lawyers.

On March 26, the Government of Saskatchewan enacted: The Land Titles (Public Emergencies) Amendment Regulations, 2020. The new legislation enables lawyers to execute and witness certain documents using electronic means, such as video conferencing.

In the Law Society of Saskatchewan’s announcement they included an Emergency Practice Directive. Read the Law Society of Saskatchewan’s announcements for further details.

In addition the Registrar of Titles sent out their own directive.

Both these organizations (as per their directives) require different forms to be completed when remotely witnessing document signing. These documents are:

When completing a Declaration in Law Society of Saskatchewan Form PD1 (one per client) the lawyer is required to attach a photo (or screen capture) of their client with his/her photo identification obtained during the session where the documents were executed (this is required for each completed form).

For our RealtiWeb Saskatchewan users, these two required forms have been added to the Land Registration Documents category with the following names:

  • Certificate of Lawyer - Remote Witnessing

  • Declaration of Lawyer - Remote Signing Form PD1
